Survival Tips for Summer Heat!

It's that time of the year when the mercury is rising, and the heat becomes a major factor influencing our training and racing.
These six simple tips will help you train smarter.
1. Juggle your training around the heat. Plan harder session on cooler days.
If you can't start early and shorten the session.
2. If training on a hot day, adjust your expectations. Your performance will decline slightly as your body struggles to adjust.
3. Hydration - you should be drinking approx. 2.5 to 3 litres a day. This may be more on a hot day.
- Stay hydrated during training. Consume between 600-1000ml / hour pending conditions.
4. Measure your body weight before and after training. Losses of 2-4kg can occur in long sessions.
Rehydrate asap following.
5. The night before and morning prior take Added Electrolytes


Consume Electrolytes on an hourly basis during.
6 Recovery is the key. Hot days will take more out of you. Ensure you take a recovery product within 30 mins post training.

 

Plan an easy day after a hard session in the heat.
